Domain Identity Verification Fee
auDA, the Australian Domain Administration, has mandated a security measure for all domain registrars to verify the identity of individuals registering a direct .au domain as a citizen or resident.
This move aims to bolster online security and ensure only those who are eligible to register AU domains are able to.
To comply, domain registrars had to implement robust identity verification solutions for these domains. This enhancement comes at a cost per verification attempt that is non-refundable.
Given our commitment to providing the lowest prices on all domain extensions, we have no choice but to pass on this identity verification fee for related direct au domain registrations.
The fee is $3 once-off payable as part of the domain registration and is not payable again at any time in the future. Future renewals will be at the standard renewal cost as listed on our website here.
This fee covers the expenses incurred for implementing and maintaining the identity verification process at the registrar, ensuring compliance without compromising security.
