How to create an FTP account?

Step 1: Accessing cPanel

Before creating an FTP account in cPanel, you will need to login to your cPanel account. If you are unsure how to do this, please follow these steps:

  1. Open your web browser and visit your website's cPanel login page. This is usually located at http://yourdomain.com/cpanel.
  2. Enter your cPanel username and password.
  3. Click on the "Log In" button to access your cPanel account.

Step 2: Creating an FTP Account

Once logged in to your cPanel account, you can proceed to create an FTP account by following these steps:

  1. Scroll down to the "Files" section and click on the "FTP Accounts" icon.
  2. In the "Add FTP Account" section, type in the desired username for your FTP account. This can be anything you choose.
  3. Enter a secure password for your FTP account. Make sure to use a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters to create a strong password.
  4. Specify the directory where you want the FTP account to have access to. If you want the FTP account to have access to your entire website, leave this field blank.
  5. Choose the appropriate quota for the FTP account. This sets the maximum amount of disk space that the FTP account can use. If you want to allow unlimited disk space, select the "Unlimited" option.
  6. Click on the "Create FTP Account" button to create the FTP account.

Step 3: Using the FTP Account

Now that you have created your FTP account, you can use it to access your website's files. Here is how to do it:

  1. Open your favorite FTP client software. If you don't have one, you can download and install popular FTP clients such as FileZilla or Cyberduck.
  2. In your FTP client, enter the following details:
  • FTP Server/Host: This is usually your domain name (e.g. ftp.yourdomain.com) or the server's IP address.
  • Username: Enter the username you created in cPanel.
  • Password: Enter the password you set for the FTP account.
  • Port: Leave this field blank or enter 21, which is the default FTP port.
  1. Click on the "Connect" button in your FTP client to establish a connection to your website's server.
  2. You should now see the files and folders on your website's server. You can upload, download, or modify these files as needed.

That's it! You have successfully created an FTP account in cPanel and learned how to use it to manage your website's files. If you have any further questions or issues, please contact our support team for assistance.
